PARIS — Nearly nine years after a traumatic armed robbery that targeted Kim Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week, the trial of the accused perpetrators has reached its conclusion. On May 23, 2023, eight of the ten suspects were found guilty in a Paris court for their roles in the 2016 heist, which left the reality star shaken.
In October 2016, while staying at a luxury hotel, Kardashian was confronted by men disguised as police officers. They demanded her diamond ring and subsequently tied her up, leaving her terrified that she would be sexually assaulted—a fear she expressed in a poignant interview with David Letterman in 2020.
The trial, which commenced on April 28, included testimonies from the victims and revealed chilling details of the crime. Kardashian took the stand, sharing her ordeal as the assailants invaded her privacy, stating, "I was sure that I was going to be raped." Her emotional testimony was part of a broader narrative of survival and empowerment since the incident.
The court found Aomar Ait Kedache, the ringleader, guilty, sentencing him to eight years in prison—although, due to time served, he will not serve time. The sentences for the other suspects were similarly lenient, reflecting their ages, many of whom were in their 60s and 70s.
Kardashian, though not present for the verdict, expressed gratitude to the French authorities, calling her experience "the most terrifying of my life" and highlighting her commitment to advocating for justice.
