Rockport Fire Department Mourns the Loss of Fire Captain Andrew Porter
The Rockport Fire Department is in mourning following the unexpected death of Fire Captain Andrew Porter, who passed away on Monday at the age of 43 at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, surrounded by loved ones. With a dedicated 25-year tenure in the department, Porter served as the captain of Engine Companies 1 and 3 and was also a specialist in the Department of Public Works Highway Division.
Chief Mark Wonson expressed profound sadness in a press release, stating, “We are heartbroken and mourning the loss of Capt. Andrew Porter — a dedicated firefighter, trusted leader, and beloved member of our Rockport Fire Department family.” He emphasized that Porter’s passing has created a significant void in both the department and the community, pledging to honor his memory.
