Boston Mayor Wu Critiques Josh Kraft’s Campaign for Lacking ‘Substance’ Amidst Tensions

Boston Mayoral Race Heats Up: Wu Critiques Kraft’s Funding as Lacking Substance

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and her challenger Josh Kraft intensified their confrontation during a recent debate, with Wu accusing Kraft of relying on substantial outside funding, which she claims lacks genuine substance. Wu criticized the $2 million Kraft invested personally in his campaign and the $1.4 million spent on negative ads by the super PAC “Your City, Your Future,” which she argues is financially supported by billionaires and Trump donors.

“Bostonians support the progress we’ve made, contrary to the negative narratives pushed by external interests,” Wu stated on GBH’s Boston Public Radio. She emphasized her administration’s achievements in affordable housing and public safety while contrasting them with Kraft’s perceived inexperience.

In response, Kraft’s campaign labeled Wu’s claims as “categorically false” and defended his residency and voting record, stating he has lived in Boston for years and actively participated in elections. The Kraft campaign accused Wu of deflecting from her own shortcomings as mayor, alleging a series of failures in housing and city management.

As the candidates prepare for their next forum in Dorchester, the race intensifies, spotlighting contrasting visions for Boston’s future.
