Hampshire Regional Raiders Claim Western Mass. Class B Title with Dominant Performance
WESTFIELD – Ryanne Dubay stepped up to the challenge in the Western Mass. Class B tournament final, leading the No. 1 Hampshire Regional Raiders to a thrilling 1-0 victory over the No. 3 South Hadley Tigers at Sullivan Field. Facing off against formidable pitcher Isabella Schaeffer, Dubay was nothing short of spectacular, striking out 12 batters and allowing only three hits throughout the game.
“Every pitch had to be perfect,” Dubay noted. “She’s one of the best pitchers we’ve faced, and I had to elevate my game.” Her exceptional performance not only shut down South Hadley’s offense but also included the game’s only run, driven in by an RBI single in the first inning.
Despite a missed opportunity to extend their lead with bases loaded in the third, the Raiders’ defense held strong. Coach Brian McGann praised Dubay’s preparation, stating, "She was dynamite today.” With this win, the Raiders clinched their 12th Western Mass. title since 2009, finishing the season with an impressive 20-1 record. “We worked so hard for this,” said Dubay, reflecting the team’s perseverance and dedication.
