Holyoke Police have made two arrests in connection with a shots-fired incident that occurred over the weekend. At approximately 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to reports of gunfire near East Dwight and Center streets. Upon arrival, they discovered 13 shell casings scattered at the scene, although no victims or property damage were reported.
Following their investigation, police identified the suspects as Glenn Jacobs, 42, of Holyoke, and Xavier Medina, 20, of Springfield. A warrant for their arrests was subsequently issued.
On Tuesday, around 4:05 p.m., officers from the Hampden County Narcotics Task Force, while conducting an unrelated investigation, initiated a traffic stop at Lyman Street and Open Square Way. Jacobs was identified as the driver, with Medina as the passenger, leading to their immediate arrest.
Both suspects now face multiple charges, including discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a Firearm Identification (FID) card. The swift response and collaborative efforts of law enforcement played a crucial role in bringing the situation under control and ensuring public safety.
Police Chief says, "This incident reinforces our commitment to addressing gun violence in our community. We urge anyone with information on similar disturbances to come forward."
As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on ensuring a safe environment for all residents. Both Jacobs and Medina are being held pending their arraignment.
