St. Mary’s Boys Tennis Secures Postseason Victory

In an exciting matchup during the Division 3 preliminary round, No. 32 St. Mary’s boys tennis team clinched its first postseason victory since 2019, defeating No. 33 Ludlow with a clean 5-0 sweep. Singles players Thomas Shea (6-2, 6-2), Stephen Nason (7-6, 6-3), and Jason Spaulding (6-2, 6-1) showcased impressive performances, while doubles pairs Thomas Weber & Wes Georges (6-3, 6-3) and Simon Tenorio & Ryan Gil (6-4, 6-4) also dominated their matches.

In Division 1, No. 30 Durfee (14-6) secured a 4-1 victory over No. 35 Medford, with Colin Fleet and Will Rumsey both winning their matches decisively. Meanwhile, in Division 2, No. 32 Whitman-Hanson (7-12) advanced to the first round with a closely contested 3-2 win against No. 33 Bridgewater-Raynham, powered by strength in doubles.

Other highlights from various tournaments included Trevor Engel of Shawsheen winning the Commonwealth Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship, and standout performances from Greater Lowell’s girls lacrosse team, ensuring an exciting finish to the tournament season. As competitors gear up for upcoming rounds, the stakes remain high for teams across divisions.
