Trump Seeks Pardon for Reality TV Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley
By WILL WEISSERT, Associated Press
President Donald Trump has announced plans to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, the stars of the reality show "Chrisley Knows Best," who were convicted in 2022 for fraudulently obtaining over $30 million in bank loans and evading taxes. They were sentenced to lengthy prison terms—Julie received seven years while Todd was given 12—and ordered to pay nearly $18 million in restitution.
During a video call with their daughter Savannah, Trump expressed hope that the pardons could be finalized quickly, suggesting the couple had received "harsh treatment." Their attorney, Alex Little, stated that the pardon rectifies an injustice and claims that Todd and Julie were targeted for their conservative beliefs.
The Chrisleys’ convictions stemmed from submitting false documents to banks to secure loans, which they reportedly used to fund a lavish lifestyle. Although an appellate court upheld their convictions, it ordered a resentencing for Julie due to a legal miscalculation.
Savannah has vocally defended her parents, framing their prosecution as politically motivated. The move continues Trump’s pattern of pardoning associates and supporters, raising questions about the integrity of the criminal justice system.
