Press Release: Orange Couple Faces Kidnapping Charges
Orange, MA – An Orange couple, Zachary Bedell, 24, and Alison Blauner, 31, has been charged with kidnapping and witness intimidation after allegedly detaining a 16-year-old girl in their apartment earlier this month. Both individuals pleaded not guilty to the charges during their arraignment at Orange District Court on May 16.
Investigation began after the girl’s aunt requested a welfare check on May 14. While on a call with the teen, the aunt reportedly heard threats made by the couple, indicating the girl was not allowed to leave. Upon arrival, police noticed suspicious activity as the couple hesitated to open the door, with the girl hiding in a closet.
The teen stated she had been in contact with Bedell for four years and had taken an Uber to their apartment that night. Reports indicate that Bedell provided her with alcohol and sent nude photos prior to her visit. The girl expressed feeling unsafe, citing attempts by Bedell and Blauner to restrict her freedom. Both were arrested later that day, with Bedell released on a $1,000 cash bail and Blauner on $1,500, pending their next court appearance on July 21.
