Press Article: Suffolk County Grand Jury Indicts Woman in Homicide Case
A Suffolk County grand jury has indicted 24-year-old Nora "Andi" Nelson in the death of 65-year-old Joseph Donohue, whose body was discovered wrapped in a tarp on his Charlestown houseboat on February 2, 2025. Nelson appeared via Zoom for a probable cause hearing, where prosecutors announced the indictment. Judge Lisa Grant has scheduled a status hearing for June 30, with Nelson set to be arraigned in Suffolk County Superior Court at a later date.
Nelson’s attorney, Megan Stanley, noted the case’s complexities, refraining from discussing Nelson’s mental health status, although previous court orders required mental evaluations. A clinician indicated that Nelson may lack understanding of the charges, possibly due to a mental illness or personality disorder.
On the fateful night, police found Nelson at the houseboat after family members requested a well-being check. She reportedly misled officers about the situation and was arrested for separate unrelated warrants. The Donohue family expressed their heartbreak, describing Joseph as a generous and kind man. Meanwhile, Nelson’s childhood friend has raised concerns over her deteriorating mental health prior to the incident, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive evaluation.
