Abandoned Dog Euthanized After Severe Health Issues
Lawrence, MA – May 21, 2023 – The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) has reported the tragic euthanization of a young poodle mix named Willie, found abandoned on May 19 along Route 495 in Lawrence. Initially rescued and taken to Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen, Willie was found matted and severely emaciated.
Upon arrival at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, veterinarians diagnosed him with acute dehydration, pneumonia, and potential neurological problems. Despite receiving constant care, Willie’s condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to the heart-wrenching decision to humanely euthanize him. MSPCA Executive Director Chris Schindler expressed sorrow over Willie’s fate, emphasizing the dedication of the veterinary team in his battle for recovery.
MSPCA Law Enforcement is now investigating the circumstances surrounding Willie’s abandonment. "These cases are challenging, and we need community help to uncover how this poor pup ended up in such dire condition," Schindler stated.
