OneHolyoke Community Development Corp. Hosts Lunch Event on Livable Communities
HOLYOKE — On June 16, the OneHolyoke Community Development Corp. will host a pivotal lunch event titled “Building & Sustaining Livable Communities” at the Wyckoff Country Club. This gathering aims to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities facing Gateway Cities amid looming federal cutbacks and economic uncertainty.
The event will feature U.S. Representative Richard Neal as the keynote speaker. Joining him will be key figures in local economic development, including Michael Moriarty, executive director of OneHolyoke, who will moderate the discussion, Richard Sullivan, president and CEO of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts, and Elise Rapoza, senior research associate at the MassINC Policy Center.
Attendees can expect an insightful exploration of essential topics such as resource allocation, innovative strategies, and advocacy efforts critical for addressing economic hurdles. Rapoza will present her findings on promoting mixed-income neighborhoods, shedding light on their potential to enhance community livability.
The event will commence at noon, and a suggested donation of $50 will include lunch. Participants can register online at OneHolyoke.org.
As Gateway Cities face unique challenges, this event aims to inspire collaboration and proactive dialogue around sustainable development and community resilience. Community members, stakeholders, and local leaders are encouraged to attend and contribute to the conversation about building stronger, more inclusive communities.
