Leominster Community Outraged by Vandalism at Little League Field
Leominster, MA—Community members are in shock after vandals severely damaged the backstop at a local Little League baseball field, rendering it unsafe for play. Volunteer coach and league president Rob Lora reported that the destruction, discovered on Monday, will cost approximately $3,000 to repair and will take at least a month to complete.
The vandals’ actions have drawn ire from parents and supporters of the league, as highlighted in a Facebook post from the league, which included images of the shredded backstop. "They knew they were hurting the kids," Lora stated, emphasizing that the vandalism stripped away the facility’s use for young players. As a result, the teams will have to relocate and utilize an alternate field in the meantime.
Leominster police are currently investigating the incident, yet have no leads on the culprits or their motives. The community is rallying together to support the league during this challenging time, showing resilience in the face of a malicious act that has deeply affected local youth sports.
The league expresses its hope for swift repairs and support to restore the field for the children it aims to serve.
