ATLANTA (AP) — The Boston Red Sox halted a five-game losing streak with a decisive 5-1 victory against the Atlanta Braves on May 30, 2025. Trevor Story, who had been struggling with a batting average of .131 in his last 30 games, ignited the Sox’ comeback by hitting a crucial two-run homer in the fourth inning.
The Braves initially took the lead with Matt Olson’s RBI single in the first. However, the Red Sox responded by capturing the lead in the fourth, followed by an additional run in the sixth and two more in the ninth thanks to Rafael Devers’ two-run single.
Boston starter Lucas Giolito delivered a solid performance, allowing one earned run over 4 2/3 innings, while the bullpen held Atlanta scoreless for the rest of the game. A pivotal moment came in the seventh when a strong play by Story at shortstop, followed by a successful challenge, helped maintain the Red Sox’s lead.
The teams will face off again Saturday, with Boston’s Walker Buehler slated to pitch against Atlanta’s Spencer Schwellenbach.
