MIAA Division II Track & Field Championships Conclude at Merrimack College
Merrimack College hosted the second half of the MIAA Division II track & field state championships on Saturday, showcasing remarkable athletic prowess. In the boys’ team standings, Peabody Veterans Memorial emerged victorious with 92 points, followed by Marshfield (66) and Algonquin Regional (65). North Andover and Catholic Memorial rounded out the top five.
The girls’ competition saw North Andover clinch the top spot with 79 points. Wellesley (76) and King Philip Regional (54) secured second and third, while Arlington (51) and Peabody Veterans Memorial (47) followed closely behind.
Individual highlights included Miles Lipka from Algonquin, who excelled in the high jump with a mark of 6-06.00, and Graham Heinrich from Marshfield, who won the 1-mile event with a time of 4:15.39. In the girls’ events, Eleanor Gosselin of North Andover shone in the pole vault, clearing 9-06.00, while Annie Comella from Wellesley impressed in the long jump, achieving 18-09.00.
