Man Shot and Killed in Springfield’s Metro Center
SPRINGFIELD – A man was fatally shot in the Metro Center area on Saturday night, prompting an investigation by local authorities. The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Bridge Street, close to the intersection of Chestnut and Pearl Streets. Police spokesman Ryan Walsh reported that the victim was quickly transported to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The Springfield Police Homicide Unit, led by Capt. Trent Duda, is handling the investigation. In a bid to gather more information, authorities are urging the public to come forward with any details related to the shooting. They are particularly interested in video evidence. Additionally, residents are encouraged to send anonymous tips via text message to CRIMES (2-7-4-6-3-7), starting with the word “SOLVE.”
