Patriots Center David Andrews Announces Retirement
By Conor Ryan, June 2, 2025
In an emotional farewell on Monday, David Andrews officially announced his retirement from the NFL after a distinguished ten-year career with the New England Patriots. The 32-year-old center, who joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2015, became a pivotal player in the franchise’s legacy, contributing significantly during their last Super Bowl runs and offering steady leadership in the post-Tom Brady era.
Fighting back tears, Andrews expressed his deep gratitude during the retirement ceremony, highlighting the relationships he formed throughout his journey. “The relationships will mean more to you at the end of the day than the rings and trophies,” he noted, reflecting on the lifelong friendships he developed with teammates like Tom Brady and Julian Edelman, who shared their tributes via video messages.
Despite enduring a severe shoulder injury last season, Andrews chose to step away rather than continue his career with another team. Patriots owner Robert Kraft praised Andrews as the "heart and soul" of the offensive line and acknowledged his contributions both on and off the field. Andrews leaves behind a legacy of resilience, leadership, and undying commitment to the game he loved.
