Press Release: Boulder Mall Attack Investigated as Act of Terrorism
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — On June 1, 2025, an attack at Pearl Street Mall in Boulder left six people injured as they participated in a demonstration calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. The suspect, 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, allegedly used a makeshift flamethrower and incendiary device, shouting “Free Palestine” during the incident. Law enforcement characterized the event as a “targeted terror attack,” with the FBI treating it as ideologically motivated violence.
Soliman was arrested on-site and was treated for undisclosed injuries. Among the injured, aged between 67 to 88, reports indicated they sustained serious burns. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with police evacuating the area and agents searching for additional threats.
The attack is part of a troubling trend marked by increasing antisemitic violence in the U.S., highlighted by a recent shooting of Israeli embassy staffers in Washington. FBI officials condemned the attack, emphasizing their commitment to thoroughly investigate the incident.
Further updates regarding motives and any charges against Soliman are expected as law enforcement continues their inquiry.
