Springfield Thunderbirds Kick Off Third Annual T-Birds Community Caravan
SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Thunderbirds proudly announce the return of the T-Birds Community Caravan, supported by MassMutual, during its third annual summer tour. This initiative aims to engage local communities and keep the excitement of Thunderbirds hockey alive in the offseason.
This summer’s Caravan will feature three stops across the Greater Springfield area: June 14 at Forest Park, Springfield; July 19 at Sonny’s Place, Somers, CT; and August 9 at Amelia Park Ice Arena, Westfield. The Westfield stop will include the beloved T-Birds Street Hockey Tournament for players ages 9-12.
Thunderbirds president Nathan Costa expressed enthusiasm about the program’s growth and the renewed partnership with MassMutual, emphasizing their commitment to community engagement beyond hockey. Each event will be free, hosting Thunderbirds mascot Boomer and offering interactive games, street hockey, and local vendor opportunities.
The Caravan will support local nonprofits; the Springfield stop will collect items for The Gray House, including baby food and school supplies. Subsequent events will benefit the Enfield Food Shelf and Westfield Food Pantry. Further details will be shared on the Thunderbirds’ website and social media.
