Tragic Discovery at Mount Katahdin: Bodies of Father and Daughter Located
BAXTER STATE PARK, MAINE – Tragedy struck this week as search teams recovered the bodies of Tim Keiderling, 58, and his daughter Ester, 28, both from Ulster Park, New York, after they went missing while hiking on Mount Katahdin.
The duo embarked on their hike from Abol Campground on Sunday morning, aiming for the summit. They were last seen around 10:15 a.m. on the Katahdin Tablelands. Concern grew when their car remained parked at the trailhead, prompting park rangers to launch a search. Though extensive efforts were made over Monday and Tuesday, including the support of over 30 game wardens, helicopters, and even the Maine Army National Guard, initial searches turned up no signs of the pair.
Tim was found by a K9 unit on Tuesday afternoon, while Ester’s body was discovered the following Wednesday in a wooded area of the Tablelands, no further details on their circumstances were provided. Baxter State Park officials expressed deep condolences for the Keiderling family and commended the efforts of the search and rescue teams involved. The community mourns the loss as these developments unfold.
