Worcester Activist Banned from City Hall Over Allegations of Intimidation
Worcester City Hall has issued a no trespass order against David Webb, a self-described "instigative reporter," following complaints about his alleged disruptive behavior. Webb, who actively engages in city politics and has filed 305 public records requests and sent over 1,000 emails to city officials, reportedly intimidated employees and created an unsafe environment, according to City Manager Eric Batista’s order.
Webb, known for his Substack publications and frequent public meetings, insists his actions are aimed at holding city officials accountable. The order prohibits him from entering City Hall and its surrounding areas for one year. While Batista described Webb’s communications as "repetitive" and "frivolous," Webb maintains he is exercising his First Amendment rights. He claims the cease-and-desist order is an effort to stifle transparency and public scrutiny.
Previously, Webb faced an assault during a city meeting but insists his current actions are not harassment. He argues that by documenting city officials’ failures, he exposes a lack of accountability within local government. The controversy continues to unfold as Webb advocates for transparency and democratic engagement.
