LA28 Organizers Assured That Trump’s New Travel Ban Will Not Impact Los Angeles Olympics

Significant Progress Made in 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Preparations

Los Angeles, CA (AP) — Organizers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics announced on June 5, 2025, that planning and preparations have reached a substantial milestone, reassuring stakeholders that recent travel bans will not impede participants’ entry into the United States.

Casey Wasserman, chairman and president of LA28, highlighted during a press conference that governmental support for the Olympics will ensure a smooth process for all involved. “The Olympics require special consideration,” he emphasized, thanking federal authorities for their assurance. Nicole Hoevertsz, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and chair of the Coordination Commission for LA28, echoed confidence in U.S. cooperation, stating that a guarantee will be sought for participant accessibility.

A delegation of 16 IOC members concluded a three-day visit to inspect venues, gaining insights into the event strategies and progress. “We leave the city very confident with the road ahead,” noted Hoevertsz, emphasizing that there are 1,135 days until the opening ceremony on July 14, 2028.

Additionally, Wasserman addressed ongoing contingency planning for potential emergencies, referencing recent wildfires in California. “It’s our job to be prepared for any and every kind of eventuality,” he said.

From a financial standpoint, Wasserman expressed high confidence in the organization’s fiscal success, stating that LA28 has over 60% of its revenue contracted, surpassing the total revenue of previous Olympics. “Losing money is not really an option for us,” he asserted as the team continues to work aggressively towards generating revenue ahead of ticket sales.

As excitement builds for the upcoming games, plans are set in motion to deliver an unforgettable Olympic experience in Los Angeles.
