Local High School Playoff Highlights – June 5
In an action-packed day of high school sports on June 5, teams across various divisions made their mark in the state tournaments for tennis, baseball, softball, and lacrosse.
Boys Tennis saw impressive victories in the Division I quarterfinals, with St. John’s Prep and Acton-Boxborough convincingly winning their matches 5-0, while Concord-Carlisle managed a strong 4-1 victory over Newton North. In Division II, Hopkinton also triumphed 5-0 against Walpole.
Baseball results included notable upsets in the Division I tournament, where 12th-seeded Franklin defeated 5th-seeded Xaverian 5-3. Milford (Division II) and Norwell (Division III) continued their strong runs with wins in their respective brackets.
Softball highlighted included a convincing win for Bishop Feehan in the Division I quarterfinals, beating Attleboro 7-4. Meanwhile, Silver Lake earned a decisive 10-1 victory against Wakefield Memorial in Division II.
Lacrosse action featured explosive performances, particularly from Walpole’s girls’ team, who emerged victorious with a score of 21-6.
