Red Sox Manager Alex Cora Provides Encouraging Update on Alex Bregman’s Injury

Bregman’s Recovery Progresses as Yankees Series Approaches

New York – Houston Astros star Alex Bregman has begun his running progression as he recovers from a right quad strain, according to manager Alex Cora. “If it’s up to him, he’ll be playing tonight,” Cora quipped in a light-hearted update.

Bregman, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 24, is still working through the recovery process. Cora described the injury as “significant” and noted its similarities to a quad strain Bregman suffered in 2021, which sidelined him for over two months. “Just going through a progression compared to when he got hurt before with Houston. He feels a lot better,” Cora remarked.

The team has made it clear that while Bregman is eager to return, caution is important. “He’s locked in,” Cora added, though he refrained from revealing a specific target date for Bregman’s return during the Astros’ upcoming three-game series against the New York Yankees, which kicks off Friday.

Despite his time on the bench, Bregman has been a standout this season, boasting an impressive .299 batting average with a .385 on-base percentage and a .553 slugging percentage. He has recorded 11 home runs, 17 doubles, 35 RBIs, 32 runs, along with 22 walks and 42 strikeouts over 51 games—highlighting his significance to the Astros’ lineup.

As Bregman’s recovery progresses, fans and teammates alike are hopeful for his swift return to action, underscoring the team’s determination to balance safety with their pursuit of success this season.
