WALPOLE — In a thrilling postseason showdown, the Westfield Bombers managed to score against the formidable Walpole Timberwolves, breaking a remarkable seven-game run of shutouts. The match, played on Saturday, saw Westfield rally for three runs in the top of the seventh inning, forcing the game into extras before it was suspended due to heavy rain.
The fifth-seeded Bombers and fourth-seeded Walpole will resume the nail-biter on Monday, starting the top of the eighth inning with a 3-3 score. Westfield, with two runners on base and one out, is poised to capitalize on the opportunity. "We just reset like it’s a 0-0 game," said Walpole coach Rachael Sprague, as her team aims for a spot in the Division 2 state semifinals.
