Lincoln-Sudbury Secures Semifinal Spot with Thrilling 14-8 Win Over Concord-Carlisle
SUDBURY – In a commanding display of skill and teamwork, the Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors defeated the Concord-Carlisle Patriots 14-8 on Sunday, advancing to the Div. 1 boys lacrosse semifinals. Junior Brady Malo led the charge with a hat trick, supported by impressive performances from seniors Rex Friedholm, Nolan Martindale, Dante Venuto, and Will Fosnot, who each scored two goals.
Malo expressed relief at reaching the Final Four after two consecutive Elite Eight exits. "We had to battle through adversity," he said. After initially trailing 1-0, the Warriors responded swiftly with three consecutive goals, establishing a 3-1 lead. Despite some back-and-forth scoring, Lincoln-Sudbury maintained control, highlighted by a spectacular assist from Friedholm to Malo just before halftime.
The Warriors exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Concord-Carlisle 6-1, with Martindale and Fosnot leading the surge. Coach Brian Vona praised Fosnot for stepping up, showcasing the depth of the team. Despite the loss, Concord-Carlisle’s Jason Swaim shone with a hat trick. Next up for Lincoln-Sudbury is a challenging game against reigning champions St. John’s Prep, promising an exhilarating matchup.
