Local High School Sports Highlights: June 8 Results
In an exciting day of high school sports on June 8, local teams competed in various state tournaments across boys and girls lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, baseball, and softball.
In boys lacrosse, Lincoln-Sudbury Regional powered through to the Division I semifinals with a decisive 14-8 victory over Concord-Carlisle. Westwood edged Longmeadow 9-8 in Division II. Meanwhile, Falmouth and Scituate each secured victories in Division III, defeating Shawsheen Valley Tech and Dracut, respectively.
In girls lacrosse, Wellesley dominated Andover, winning 18-6 in Division I, while Walpole triumphed 21-8 over East Longmeadow in Division II. Notably, Sandwich defeated Weston 18-6 in Division IV quarterfinals.
The tennis courts saw Wellesley, Wayland, Hingham, and Notre Dame Academy all claiming major victories in their respective divisions, advancing to future rounds. In boys volleyball, Wayland bested Marlborough 3-1 in the Division II tournament.
Baseball action included Chelmsford’s narrow win over Wellesley and Plymouth North’s convincing 6-3 win against Westwood. In softball, Taunton and Silver Lake secured their spots in the next round after winning against Bridgewater-Raynham and Middleboro.
