Local Level 2 Sex Offender Arrested for Inappropriate Recording in Target Dressing Room
Mashpee, MA – Gregory Mattos, a 37-year-old registered Level 2 sex offender, has been arrested following allegations of secretly recording a woman in a Target dressing room. Charged with one count of photographing an unsuspecting nude person, Mattos entered a plea of not guilty in Wareham District Court. He was subsequently placed on $5,000 cash bail, ordered to avoid all Target locations, and prohibited from contacting the victim. The Plymouth District Attorney’s office initially sought a bail of $50,000 due to the nature of the charges.
The incident occurred at a Target store in Wareham Crossing, where police were called after the victim reported seeing a black phone held over the dressing room stall while changing. Surveillance footage confirmed a man in a gray hoodie entered the fitting room area at approximately 2:23 p.m., remaining there for about four minutes before leaving without making any purchases. He was later identified as Mattos after law enforcement located him fishing nearby.
Authorities have seized Mattos’s phone, pending a search warrant for further investigation. He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on June 30.
