Trump’s Approval Ratings Plummet in New Poll
President Donald Trump’s approval rating has hit a new low, with a recent Quinnipiac University poll revealing only 38% of respondents approve of his performance, while 54% disapprove. This marks the first instance during Trump’s second term where his approval has dipped below 40%, according to the RealClearPolitics poll average.
The poll highlights significant discontent among the electorate regarding Trump’s handling of multiple issues. His immigration policies received just 43% approval, with 54% disapproving, while his approach to deportations garnered 40% approval against 56% disapproval. The economy also suffered, with 40% approval compared to 56% disapproval. Other areas such as trade (38% approve, 57% disapprove), university policies (37% approve, 54% disapprove), the Israel-Hamas conflict (35% approve, 52% disapprove), and the Russia-Ukraine war (34% approve, 57% disapprove) reflect widespread dissatisfaction.
CNN’s Harry Enten noted the poll’s troubling implications for Trump, characterizing it as one of his worst, particularly criticizing the low support for his proposed “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes extensions of past tax cuts and significant defense spending. Only 27% of respondents expressed support for this legislation, while a majority of 53% opposed it.
The survey also evaluated congressional effectiveness, showing a stark disapproval of Democrats, with only 21% approval. Republicans fared slightly better at 32% approval, yet a commendable 79% among Republican respondents still showed satisfaction with their party’s actions.
Conducted from June 5 to June 9, the poll surveyed 1,265 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8%.
