Crochets Struggles Despite Shining Performance Leads to Tied Game
Boston, June 14, 2025 — Garrett Crochet showcased his pitching prowess once again at Fenway Park in a tense matchup against the New York Yankees Friday night. Entering the ninth inning with a 1-0 lead and aiming for his first home win, Crochet had already dominated the Yankees, allowing just three hits without any runs.
The Red Sox ace had struck out superstar Aaron Judge six consecutive times, and was firing multiple pitches topping 100 miles per hour. However, in a critical moment, a low fastball on a 3-2 count resulted in Judge connecting for a 443-foot home run, leveling the game.
Despite this blunder, Crochet expressed no regret about his pitch selection, emphasizing, “I live and die with my best pitch.” He completed 8 ⅓ innings, striking out seven batters while maintaining lead league stats for strikeouts and ERA.
Though Crochet exited the game without a decision, the Red Sox ultimately triumphed, scoring a walk-off victory in the 10th inning thanks to Carlos Narvaez’s RBI single. Manager Alex Cora praised Crochet’s efforts, stating, “Our guy was amazing.” The performance underscored Crochet’s continued growth and the resurgence of the Red Sox pitching staff.
