Red Sox Secure Narrow Victory Against Yankees, Mark Third Straight Series Win
Boston, MA — The Boston Red Sox continued their resurgence with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees, clinching their third consecutive series win within the American League East. This marks the fifth game in a row where a Red Sox starting pitcher has delivered at least six innings, with rookie Hunter Dobbins shining through with six scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing only two hits and one walk.
Dobbins, who previously faced the Yankees just a weekend ago, notably improved his performance, even managing to strike out Yankees captain Aaron Judge twice. His exceptional outing made him the first Red Sox rookie since Clay Buchholz in 2007 to achieve six scoreless innings with two or fewer hits allowed.
Boston’s offense, although held to just seven hits, saw key contributions, including a first-inning single from Carlos Narváez and a crucial double from Trevor Story in the fourth inning.
Despite a rocky outing for the bullpen, who allowed the Yankees to close in on the lead, Greg Weissert secured the save, bringing the Red Sox to a .500 record for the first time since late May. The team will face the Yankees again in the series finale before embarking on a challenging west coast road trip.
