Tragic Fire Claims Life of Retired Revere Police Officer
Revere, MA—In a devastating incident, 77-year-old Richard Serino, a beloved retired police officer, lost his life in a house fire on Tuesday at 661 Washington Ave. The Revere Fire Department received a 911 call at 4:39 p.m. and quickly responded to find heavy smoke and flames engulfing the rear of the multi-family home. Firefighters launched an immediate attack, gaining entry and locating Serino inside. Despite efforts to provide medical aid and transport him to CHA Everett Hospital, Serino succumbed to his injuries.
Mayor Patrick Keefe expressed the community’s sorrow, stating, "Richie Serino was a community staple" who dedicated years to public service. Known for his festive holiday decorations, Serino’s presence will be deeply missed by residents. He served with the Revere Police Department for 34 years before retiring in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of community involvement. His son currently serves as a firefighter in Revere.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials have indicated that it does not appear suspicious. Further updates will be released as they become available.
