Trump’s Approval Ratings Plummet on Key Issues: Poll Insights
President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have sharply declined on crucial voting issues, reflecting a significant shift in public sentiment since January. According to a recent Economist/YouGov poll, Trump’s overall approval rating among U.S. adults has fallen to 41%, down from 49% at the start of his term. Support for his handling of crime and immigration—areas where he previously enjoyed public trust—has also declined.
Key metrics reveal a stark drop in Trump’s net approval on several fronts: abortion has fallen from 39% to 29%, while his ratings for handling the economy and crime have dipped to 41% and 44%, respectively. Concerns over inflation have escalated, with approval plummeting from 45% to 35%.
Polling data showed that disapproval regarding his immigration policies has risen significantly, marking a troubling shift in a perceived strength for Trump. Additional surveys from Quinnipiac University and The Associated Press-NORC report even worse standings, with Trump’s net approval at minus 16% and minus 21%, respectively. CNN analyst Harry Enten underscores the alarming trend, indicating that the American public is increasingly dissatisfied with Trump’s governance.
