Boston Man Dies from Gunshot Wound in Dorchester Incident
A man was fatally shot while in a vehicle that subsequently crashed in Dorchester on Thursday night, according to Boston Police. Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 163 Ruthven Street around 10:01 p.m. and discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting likely occurred inside the car before the crash. If ruled a homicide, this incident would mark the 17th killing in Boston this year, a sharp increase from just five homicides recorded by June 20, 2024, following a year of historically low rates.
Sgt. Detective John Boyle, a spokesperson for the police department, stated that the department’s homicide unit is actively examining the details of the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the Boston Police at 617-343-4470. As the city grapples with rising violence, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
