In a disturbing incident, a Massachusetts State Police trooper was seriously injured after being struck by a motorcycle ridden by 18-year-old Akram Elmoukhtari of Revere. The collision occurred on Revere Beach Boulevard around 5 p.m. on Monday, propelling the trooper approximately 45 feet. Elmoukhtari faces multiple charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and receiving stolen property, following the motorcycle’s identification as stolen.
The injured trooper was immediately transported to a Boston hospital and remains in critical condition. Governor Maura Healey expressed her concern, stating, "My thoughts are with the injured trooper, his family, and the entire Department during this difficult time." This incident marks the second time this month a state trooper has sustained injuries while on duty; a previous incident involved another officer being struck on I-95 west.
Healey emphasized the ongoing dangers law enforcement officers face daily, expressing gratitude for their bravery and service. Additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident will be released following Elmoukhtari’s arraignment in Chelsea District Court.
