Westfield Little League All-Stars Stay Perfect with 6-2 Victory Over Longmeadow
WESTFIELD – The Westfield Little League Baseball 11-Year-Old All-Stars showcased their dominance by finishing the round robin portion of the district tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. Their latest victory came Tuesday evening against Longmeadow at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field, where they secured a 6-2 win, bringing their tournament scoring tally to an impressive 30-2 across three games.
Westfield jumped to an early lead, scoring one run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 advantage. Longmeadow managed to respond with both of its runs in the fourth inning, but the Westfield squad quickly regained control, adding three more runs in the same inning.
Key contributors for Westfield included Henry Cigal, who had a hit, a run, and an RBI, alongside Bennie Madsen, Dylan Schortmann, and Angel Villanueva, who each had a hit. Jackson Krause and Luke Miller contributed with walks that led to runs, while Keaton Poth and Brayden Getty added to the run tally with multiple walks and strategic plays.
On the mound, Westfield’s starting pitcher, Keegan Welch, delivered a stellar performance, surrendering just two runs (one earned) on three hits over four innings, striking out seven along the way. Lennox Carmichael entered as relief, closing out two innings without allowing any runs and striking out four.
With this victory, Westfield solidified its position as the top seed going into the double-elimination phase of the tournament. They are set to face the fourth seed this Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field, as they aim to continue their undefeated streak.
