Celtics Select Amari Williams and Max Shulga in 2025 NBA Draft
Boston Celtics have made strategic moves in the 2025 NBA Draft, adding promising talents to their roster. A day after securing Spanish wing Hugo Gonzalez with the 28th pick, the Celtics selected 7-foot center Amari Williams from the University of Kentucky with the 46th overall pick. Williams, recognized for his unique skill set as a big man, combines defensive prowess with impressive passing ability; he recorded 115 assists in a single season at Kentucky, the highest for a 7-footer in Wildcats history.
Additionally, the Celtics picked sharpshooter Max Shulga at No. 57. Shulga, a 6-foot-5 guard, demonstrated exceptional 3-point shooting during his time at Utah State and VCU, achieving a 39.2% success rate from beyond the arc. His accolades include being named the A-10 Player of the Year, averaging 15.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game in his final season.
Both players offer distinct advantages for Boston, with Williams expected to contribute defensively and facilitate playmaking, while Shulga aims to enhance the Celtics’ long-range shooting. As Boston looks towards the future, these selections highlight a commitment to developing young talent.
