Wayland Home Invasion Leaves Homeowner Injured; Suspects Still at Large
WAYLAND, MA – A frightening home invasion occurred on Friday night when two masked men armed with guns broke into a residence on Joyce Road, demanding money and valuables. The incident, which unfolded around 9:43 p.m., left the homeowner with facial injuries after he was struck in the face.
According to the Wayland Police Department, the homeowner initially heard a noise in his backyard and went outside to investigate. He encountered the two suspects, who were dressed in dark clothing and face masks. Upon entering the home, the armed intruders confronted the homeowner and made their demands for cash and gold. However, their attempt was unsuccessful, and they fled the scene empty-handed out the front door.
Emergency services were called, and upon arrival, police found the homeowner with facial wounds. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of his minor injuries.
Police Chief Ed Burman expressed that the incident appears to be targeted, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance. “At this point, we believe this is a targeted incident but as always, we remind everyone to be vigilant and notify the police department if you see anything suspicious 24 hours a day,” he stated in a Saturday morning update.
