Alaska Airlines Resumes Operations After IT Outage
Seattle, WA – Alaska Airlines has successfully resumed operations following a significant IT outage that affected its entire system for roughly three hours. The disruption began around 8 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday, prompting a temporary ground stop for all flights operated by Alaska Airlines and its subsidiary, Horizon Air. The ground stop was lifted at 11 p.m. after the airline resolved the technical issue.
In a social media update, the Seattle-based airline acknowledged that while operations are returning to normal, passengers may experience residual delays as crews and aircraft are repositioned. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the ground stop affecting all Alaska Airlines mainline and Horizon flights.
This incident follows a month of notable safety observations, with the National Transportation Safety Board recognizing the crew of Alaska Airlines flight 1282 for ensuring passenger safety during a mid-flight emergency. Last September, the airline also faced operational challenges due to another unspecified technology issue, which was resolved within hours.
Travelers are advised to check their flight status for any ongoing delays as the airline works to stabilize operations.
