Brandon Routh Praises David Corenswet’s Superman Performance
Brandon Routh, known for his role as Superman in 2006’s "Superman Returns," has expressed his admiration for David Corenswet’s portrayal of the iconic hero in the latest reboot, which premiered on July 11. In an interview with The Post, Routh praised Corenswet’s performance, stating, “I think David did just an amazing job.” He expressed enthusiasm for Superman’s return, calling it an uplifting moment for the DC Universe.
Despite not having met Corenswet yet, Routh looks forward to a future encounter, emphasizing the importance of positivity in entertainment during challenging times: “It’s a good summer for that. We need some positivity in the world." Routh reflected on the impact of his role as Superman, noting the meaningful connections he has made with fans, from military members to those who found comfort in his portrayal during tough times.
Aside from his Superman legacy, Routh also revealed his long-standing connection with another DC hero, Jason Momoa, having attended high school together. He reminisced about their shared experiences, including soccer and Cub Scouts.
Currently, Routh stars in the new sci-fi horror comedy, "Ick," hitting theaters nationwide on Sunday. In the film, he plays a teenage version of himself alongside Mena Suvari, a character starkly different from his high school years. Routh shared that his real-life experiences included numerous extracurricular activities, but he had a limited social life outside of school.
An English major at the University of Iowa, Routh revealed that if acting hadn’t been his path, he envisioned becoming a novelist. With his diverse talents and cherished memories, Routh continues to evolve while celebrating the legacies of superheroes.
