Mookie Betts Absent from Dodgers vs. Red Sox Due to Personal Reasons

Mookie Betts to Rejoin Dodgers After Personal Matters

Nashville, TN – July 25, 2025 – Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts is expected to return to Fenway Park on Saturday, following a brief absence due to personal matters. The 32-year-old former Red Sox outfielder has been handling issues in Nashville and missed the series opener against his former team on Friday.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Betts, drafted by Boston in 2011, will likely arrive around game time for Saturday’s matchup. “He might have some personal things that he needs to deal with, but everything is okay with him,” Roberts shared with reporters. The manager remains uncertain if Betts will be in the lineup for the second game of the three-game series.

This season, Betts has faced struggles at the plate, batting .238 with a .679 OPS, 14 doubles, and 11 home runs through 94 games. In a notable shift, he has transitioned to primarily playing shortstop this year after predominantly playing in the outfield during his career. Last year, he spent most of the season at second base.

Betts’ return to Fenway brings back memories of last year’s emotional reunion when he received a heartfelt standing ovation from Red Sox fans, marking his first appearance there since 2019. As the team prepares for Saturday’s 7:15 PM ET game, fans are eager to see if he will take the field once again, reminding them of the impact he made during his time in Boston. The series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 1:35 PM ET.

For updates on Betts and the Dodgers, fans can tune in to FOX for the weekend games.
