Local Community Mourns Loss of Iconic Figure Irene Giuffrida

Lynnfield, MA—Irene Giuffrida, a beloved matriarch and pillar of the community, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 97, surrounded by her family. Born on September 9, 1927, in Boston and raised in Revere, Irene moved to Lynnfield in 1974, where she became an integral part of the community.

A woman of grace and resilience, Irene was a devoted Catholic who attended Mass daily. Her early career as a window display decorator at R.H. Stern showcased her keen eye for design, which later helped establish the iconic Hilltop Steak House, a restaurant co-founded with her husband, Frank Giuffrida.

Irene’s contributions extended beyond her professional life. She was known for her warm hospitality as a Hostess and Manager at Hilltop and as a loving family matriarch, celebrating life’s important moments for her daughters, Santina and Gina, and her grandchildren Francesca, Robert, Caterina, Evelyn, and Gemma.

Irene is predeceased by her husband and several family members. Friends and family are invited to share memories on her memorial page. Viewing hours will be held on July 28, with a funeral service and Mass on July 29. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
