Phil Collins’ Representative Denies Reports That Singer Is in Hospice Care

Phil Collins’ Health Update: Hospitalized for Knee Surgery, Rumors of Hospice Care Denied

Phil Collins’ representative recently addressed concerns regarding the legendary musician’s health. The 74-year-old Genesis drummer was hospitalized for knee surgery, alleviating fears that he had entered hospice care, a rumor that the spokesperson categorically denied.

Collins, who performed his last show with Genesis in March 2022 while seated due to complications from a spinal injury sustained in 2007, has largely remained out of the public eye since. He is also battling drop-foot, a condition that leaves him without sensation in one foot, necessitating the use of a cane since 2015 following a spinal procedure.

In a poignant interview with MOJO magazine earlier this year, Collins expressed the difficulties he has faced. “I’ve been sick. I mean very sick,” he said, reflecting on his waning desire to create new music. His upcoming documentary, "Phil Collins: Drummer First," poignantly explores his struggle with health issues that have prevented him from playing drums, a passion he has devoted his life to since the age of five. “To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock,” he admitted.

Collins’ son, Nic, who also took up drumming, shared insights into his father’s condition, highlighting the misconception that musicians are invincible. “You don’t know it’s gonna take a toll in the long run,” he observed.

While fans eagerly await further news about Collins’ recovery, the music community continues to support the iconic artist, who has left an indelible mark on the industry throughout his storied career.
