Press Release: TSA Urges Travelers to Avoid Hiding Animals During Security Checks
Miami, FL – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued an important warning to travelers following a peculiar incident at Miami International Airport. A Florida woman attempted to smuggle two turtles through the security checkpoint by concealing them in her bra. Sadly, one of the turtles did not survive the ordeal while the other was safely handed over to the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife.
In a light-hearted yet serious social media post, TSA urged all travelers to refrain from hiding pets in unusual places. They emphasized the importance of proper procedures for bringing pets on flights. "We want you to be able to travel with your pets, and you turtle-ly can, but please travel with them safely," TSA stated.
TSA advises that small pets are allowed at security checkpoints; however, they must be removed from carriers and held openly, rather than concealed beneath clothing. Travelers planning to fly with pets should check with their airlines to understand specific policies regarding pet travel.
For more information on pet regulations, visit the TSA’s official website or consult your airline’s guidelines.
