Birmingham, England – Fans gathered in droves Wednesday to honor Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, as his hearse traversed the streets of his hometown following his death at age 76. The procession culminated at the Black Sabbath bench on Broad Street, unveiled in 2019, signifying the profound impact Osbourne had on the city’s musical legacy.

Accompanying the hearse were six vehicles carrying family members, who appreciated the community’s support. His wife of 43 years, Sharon Osbourne, was notably moved during the somber farewell.
Osbourne’s death has prompted fans to visit significant Birmingham locations tied to his legacy. “Ozzy was more than a music legend — he was a son of Birmingham,” said city official Zafar Iqbal, reflecting the sentiments of many who consider him the godfather of metal. Recently, Osbourne and his fellow Black Sabbath members were awarded the Freedom of the City for their contribution to the local culture.
The band, formed in 1968, redefined rock with its blend of aggression and melody, yielding classic albums like "Paranoid" and "Master of Reality." Despite his health struggles, including a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2019, Osbourne continued to inspire. His off-stage antics and signature “Prince of Darkness” persona cemented his legendary status.
