Press Release: Investigation Launched After Abandoned Puppies Found in Randolph
Randolph Police are seeking public assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for abandoning two puppies found on August 1. A passerby discovered the pups, a male and female approximately 11 weeks old, near Martin E. Young Elementary School and promptly alerted authorities. Upon arrival at VCA Weymouth, veterinarians determined that the male puppy’s condition was so dire that euthanasia was the humane option.
The surviving female puppy is not available for adoption as police continue their investigation into the incident. Authorities suspect the puppies may have come from basement breeders in Randolph or nearby communities, as indicated by the mixed breed characteristics, potentially a shepherd or hound mix with distinct black tails.
Randolph Police urge anyone with information about suspicious activities in the area or knowledge of local home breeders to contact Detective Kevin Aldred at 781-963-1212. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by texting “Randolph” to 847411 or via the Randolph Police Department app. No further details about the case have been released as the investigation continues.
