Patriots Injury Updates Ahead of Joint Practices with Vikings
August 10, 2025 | Conor Roche
As the New England Patriots gear up for joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings later this week, head coach Mike Vrabel provided crucial injury updates regarding key players. Most notably, star cornerback Christian Gonzalez and wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk will not participate in the sessions in Minnesota.
Gonzalez has been sidelined since July 28 due to a hamstring injury suffered during an early training camp session. While Vrabel hinted that Gonzalez might be around but not in uniform, his absence means he won’t match up against Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, a significant loss for the Patriots. Gonzalez, who was a first-team All-Pro in 2024, is expected to miss the upcoming preseason game as well.
Polk sustained a shoulder injury during the Patriots’ preseason win over the Washington Commanders, further complicating his roster chances. The 2024 second-round pick was observed favoring his right shoulder post-injury, and his missed practices could jeopardize his position on a crowded receiving unit vying for roster spots.
In contrast, cornerback Carlton Davis and offensive tackle Morgan Moses will travel to Minnesota. Davis has had limited practice time in training camp, but participated on Sunday after a maintenance day. Moses, projected as the starting right tackle, was also back on the field after missing previous sessions. Coach Vrabel expressed optimism about Moses’s recovery as he continues to manage his workload.
With injuries mounting, the upcoming practices will be pivotal for the Patriots as they finalize their roster and prepare for the 2025 season.
