Camelot Cat Cafe Opens in Greenfield: A Feline Retreat for Relaxation and Community
Greenfield, MA — The Camelot Cat Cafe, the first of its kind in Western Massachusetts, has officially opened its doors, offering a unique blend of relaxation and feline companionship. Located at 305 Wells St., this cat cafe has quickly gained popularity, exceeding expectations during its soft opening weekend with over 85 visitors.
Owner Kelley Goddard expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community, noting that many traveled from afar to experience the cafe. The space is designed not just for coffee but as a sanctuary where guests can unwind with six resident sanctuary cats, each with their own backstory, including rescue from neglect and abandonment.
Unlike traditional cat cafes that prioritize food and beverage service, Camelot Cat Cafe emphasizes the experience of interacting with the cats. "We felt like there were plenty of places in town to get a drink of high quality, but there was no place to have time with the cats," said Cameron Ward, co-owner.
Currently housing six sanctuary cats, the cafe guarantees they receive top-notch care, designed to create a home-like environment. While not available for adoption at this time, plans are in motion for future partnerships that may allow for adoption options.
Visiting the cafe costs $20 for a 40-minute session or $10 for 15 minutes. Although walk-ins are not yet permitted, reservations can be made via call or text. Goddard envisions the cafe as a community hub where visitors can relax, work, or gather with friends, emphasizing a peaceful and cozy atmosphere.
Camelot Cat Cafe is set to become a beloved space for both locals and cat lovers alike, providing a much-needed retreat in the heart of Greenfield.
