Patriots Offense Faces Tough Test Against Vikings Defense in Joint Practice
EAGAN, Minn. – The New England Patriots faced a tough challenge during a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, particularly against the aggressive defense led by coordinator Brian Flores. Quarterback Drake Maye felt the pressure early, suffering four sacks within the first four team periods. However, wide receiver Mack Hollins broke through, catching a 50-yard touchdown pass from Maye and celebrating by punting the ball into the stands, a move that drew a penalty but aimed to invigorate the team.
Despite the early setbacks, Maye rebounded, completing 16 of 25 passes and connecting on several key throws, including touchdowns to DeMario Douglas and TreVeyon Henderson. The offensive line, tested by the Vikings’ formidable pass rush, showed improvement as practice progressed.
On the defensive side, the Patriots received solid performances, including an interception by Marcus Jones, and several sacks against the Vikings’ starters. Cornerback Carlton Davis participated after limited practice due to an undisclosed injury, expressing optimism about the team’s chemistry.
As the Patriots prepare for the upcoming season, the competitive atmosphere in Minnesota showcased both the challenges and progress of the team.
