Astros Shine in 4-1 Victory Over Red Sox
HOUSTON (AP) — Hunter Brown showcased an impressive performance on the mound, allowing just one run over 6 2/3 innings as the Houston Astros triumphed over the Boston Red Sox 4-1 on Wednesday night. This win marked Brown’s 10th victory of the season, improving his record to 10-5.
The Astros surged early, with Jeremy Peña kicking off the scoring with a leadoff homer—his fifth of the season—followed by a two-out RBI single from Yainer Diaz, giving Houston a 2-0 lead. Boston managed to answer but struggled in key situations, finishing 1 for 6 with runners in scoring position.
Diaz solidified the Astros’ advantage with a decisive two-run homer in the sixth, extending the lead to 4-1. Red Sox manager Alex Cora was ejected following a discussed balk call during the sixth inning, marking his fifth ejection of the season.
With this victory, the Astros moved ahead of Seattle in the AL West standings after the Mariners lost to Baltimore 4-3. The Red Sox are set to begin a three-game series against Miami, while the Astros prepare to host Baltimore.
