Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was recently spotted hiking Camelback Mountain and sharing a hiking experience with Dr. Mehmet Oz in Colorado’s Garden of the Gods. A three-and-a-half-minute video posted on Kennedy’s official HHS X page showed the two climbing rocks during a break from speaking engagements at the National Governors Conference on July 25-26.
In the video, Kennedy discusses the personal benefits of daily hiking, emphasizing its positive effects on focus, clarity, creativity, and the importance of sunlight as a source of vitamin D. He stated, “Fifteen minutes outside can change your day and your life,” highlighting the benefits of reconnecting with nature and each other. After a humorous moment where Kennedy and Oz struggled to climb a boulder, the video took a lighthearted turn, with Oz humorously questioning how to get down.
The social media reaction was mixed; while some users mocked the video comparing it to an “SNL skit,” others appreciated the message about the importance of outdoor activity. Kennedy’s choice of attire, including jeans during a hot Arizona hike, also drew some ribbing online.
Since his appointment by President Trump, Kennedy has faced scrutiny for his stances on COVID-19 vaccine recommendations and cuts to vaccine programs. He continues to advocate for natural health methods, including improved food quality by reducing certain additives. This hike not only served as a personal moment for Kennedy but also an opportunity for him to promote wellness in a public platform.
